Data from the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco reveals a significant depletion of Americans' savings, which had previously surged between March 2020 and August 2021 due to reduced consumer spending. Economists at the San Francisco Fed reported that excess savings reached a peak of $2.1 trillion in August 2021, but have since been largely exhausted.

Despite this, the report suggests that a robust labor market could sustain consumer spending. However, recent earnings reports from major companies like Amazon indicate a shift towards budget-conscious consumer behavior. Mahmudov believes that this increased caution in spending will deter Americans from investing heavily in risky alternative cryptocurrencies. He notes that occasional spikes in specific cryptocurrencies are possible but unlikely to sustain a full-fledged altcoin season.

Mahmudov also highlights the oversupply of altcoins, which are increasing in both number and market capitalization with each new token release. Comparing the current market to that of 2017, he observes that the market was smaller then, requiring less capital to achieve significant gains. Moreover, creating new tokens was more challenging in the past, making it even less likely for an altcoin season to occur in the current market.

The depletion of excess savings and the oversupply of altcoins contribute to Mahmudov's skepticism regarding an imminent altcoin season.
