Babylon, a pioneering Bitcoin staking protocol, has successfully raised $70 million in a funding round led by the venture firm Paradigm. This substantial investment round saw participation from several prominent venture capital firms, including Bullish Capital, Polychain Capital, Hashkey Capital, Mantle, Galaxy, Hack VC, ViaBTC Capital, Amber, and HTX Ventures, as confirmed by a company press release.

Babylon is at the forefront of developing infrastructure that allows proof-of-stake (PoS) systems to leverage Bitcoin for staking purposes. The platform employs a modular design and incorporates slashing functionality to enable various stake-based systems—such as blockchains, Layer 2 solutions, DA layers, and oracles—to utilize Bitcoin as a staking and restaking asset.

"This funding will accelerate our mission to make Bitcoin the security backbone of PoS systems," said David Tse, co-founder of Babylon, in a statement. Babylon's Previous Funding and Milestones

This latest round of funding follows a series of strategic investments in Babylon. On February 28, Binance Labs, the venture arm of the crypto exchange Binance, made an undisclosed investment in Babylon. This investment coincided with the launch of Babylon's public testnet, which featured NFT pass rewards.

Additionally, in December 2023, Babylon raised $18 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Polychain Capital and Hack VC, as reported by The Block. Polychain Capital's continued participation in Babylon's funding underscores the firm's confidence in Babylon's innovative approach to enhancing the utility of Bitcoin.
