Compliance Chief Said That Binance Is "Working Effectively" With Nigerian Authorities to Release Imprisoned Executive

The trade's chief compliance officer, Noah Perlman, said on Wednesday that Binance is "operating as effectively as we can" with the Nigerian authorities to stabilise the release of its imprisoned leader of economic crimes investigations, Tigran Gambaryan.

Addressing at a Chainalysis-hosted cybersecurity symposium, Perlman said he started to feel “optimistic.” Binance declined to provide specifics, saying that it should reach a resolution with the Nigerian authorities that could result in Gambrayan's removal.

After flying to the US alongside fellow government official Nadeem Anjarwalla to discuss the concerns of Nigerian authorities with US officials, Gambaryan was placed under arrest in February.

Anjarwalla managed to flee, and as agents of the government, the authorities filed costs against each executive exchange and Binance' itself last month.

Binance previously said in a statement that Gambaryan did not have any decision-making authority with the exchange.
