During the initial full trading week of June, U.S. Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) collectively acquired nearly the equivalent of two months' worth of the cryptocurrency's mining supply.

Between June 3 and 7, these spot Bitcoin ETFs witnessed inflows totaling approximately $1.83 billion, resulting in the acquisition of 25,729 Bitcoin. This acquisition surpasses the amount of newly mined Bitcoin over the same period, which stood at 3,150 BTC. Data from HODL15Capital indicates that this week's Bitcoin acquisition is nearly equivalent to the total acquired in the entire month of May, which amounted to 29,592 BTC.

The surge in Bitcoin acquisitions by these 11 ETFs represents the most significant week of buying since mid-March, coinciding with Bitcoin's peak price of $73,679. Since their launch in January, these ETFs have seen a total of $15.69 billion in net inflows, with total assets under management (AUM) reaching approximately $61 billion, including net outflows from Grayscale's fund totaling $17.93 billion.

Bitcoin has often been likened to "digital gold" due to its finite supply, with only 21 million BTC set to ever be issued. Despite Bitcoin ETFs being in existence for just five months, ETF Store president Nate Geraci noted that their AUM already comprises around 60% of the country's gold ETFs, which have been operational for 20 years.

Amid the surge in ETF inflows, Bitcoin reached a high of $71,093 on June 5, marking its first breach above $71,000 since May 21. However, the cryptocurrency has faced challenges in surpassing its current high, with its price being notably influenced by macroeconomic factors and geopolitical events, as highlighted by crypto exchange co-founder "Radar Bear."

The substantial influx of capital into Bitcoin ETFs underscores growing investor interest in gaining exposure to Bitcoin through regulated investment vehicles, positioning cryptocurrency as an increasingly integral component of diversified investment portfolios.
