Bitcoin exchange-traded products (ETPs) now collectively hold more than 1 million BTC, valued at nearly $68 billion.

These investment vehicles, which track Bitcoin's price or offer exposure to the cryptocurrency, have seen a significant increase in holdings globally. Since the launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs in the United States in mid-January, 11 ETFs have accumulated 855,619 Bitcoin, averaging around 6,200 BTC per day.

Additional data from HODL15Capital reveals that a total of 21 Bitcoin exchange-traded products, available in various countries including Canada, Germany, and Brazil, contribute to the total holdings, reaching 1,002,343 BTC.

This amounts to approximately 5.08% of the current circulating supply of Bitcoin, which is around 19,704,484 coins according to CoinGecko.

Grayscale's GBTC remains the largest fund holding Bitcoin, with 289,040 coins valued at about $19.9 billion. However, BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) is rapidly closing the gap, currently holding 287,168 BTC worth approximately $19.8 billion. Grayscale's GBTC has experienced significant outflows since its conversion into a spot ETF in mid-January, losing around 53% of its previous holdings.

There are concerns raised by HODL15Capital about whether the growth of Bitcoin held in self-custody is being impacted by the rise of ETFs. Data suggests that there has been no growth in self-custody holdings from 2023 to 2024, although a similar lack of growth was observed between 2017 and 2018.

Currently, just 1 million addresses hold 1 BTC or more, according to LookIntoBitcoin.
