A recent study conducted by CoinLedger has revealed an impressive surge in the value of cryptocurrency portfolios, with an average increase of $2,804 observed this year, signaling a rapid ascent towards the industry's previous peak in 2021.

This analysis, undertaken by the crypto tax and portfolio management software provider, delved into a comprehensive database encompassing over 500,000 investors. It aimed to chart the trajectory of popular tokens and solutions amidst a bullish market characterized by burgeoning institutional interest and robust retail demand.

According to CoinLedger's findings, users have amassed substantial unrealized gains predominantly in the top two digital assets of the crypto sphere: Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Year-to-date (YTD) data from TradingView reveals impressive growth rates of over 57% for Bitcoin and 45% for Ethereum.

Noteworthy cryptocurrencies such as Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA), Polygon (MATIC), and Binance Coin (BNB) have also emerged among the top six tokens in terms of unrealized gains in 2024. SOL, in particular, has experienced a resurgence owing to a surge in liquidity flowing into meme coins within Solana's ecosystem. Additionally, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB retain their positions as the most longstanding investments among crypto enthusiasts.

However, not all digital assets have witnessed gains, as reflected by the native token of the defunct Voyager exchange (VGX), which tops the list for crypto's largest losses, having incurred a decline of over 19% YTD. CoinLedger's analysis also highlights other digital currencies experiencing significant losses in 2024, including Chainlink (LINK), Terra (LUNA), Hedera (HBAR), and Tezos (XTZ).

In the realm of cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets, CoinLedger's reports spotlighted the dominance of certain platforms. Binance emerged as the most utilized trading venue, while MetaMask emerged as the preferred choice for crypto storage among users. Other popular options for safeguarding digital assets included Ledger wallet, Coinbase wallet, Trust wallet, and Phantom, with exchanges such as Coinbase, KuCoin, Crypto.com, and Kraken following closely behind Binance in terms of usage.

Despite setbacks such as the bankruptcies of exchanges like FTX and Voyager, investors have reaped substantial gains in 2024, buoyed by the revival of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.
