BNB Chain has successfully activated its Haber hard fork, ushering in a significant enhancement with the introduction of BNB Evolution Proposal (BEP)-336. This upgrade is designed to optimize data storage and processing capabilities on the network, marking a pivotal development for BNB Smart Chain (BSC).

Announced on June 20, the Haber hard fork incorporates BEP-336, drawing inspiration from Ethereum’s EIP-4844. One of the standout features of BEP-336 is its implementation of blob-carrying transactions, a concept aimed at streamlining the verification process by introducing temporary memory segments to handle large data chunks.

The activation of BEP-336 promises a substantial reduction in blockchain fees, with BNB Chain claiming a remarkable 90% decrease in layer-2 costs on BSC. Specifically, the optimistic rollup layer-2 solution opBNB will now feature network fees reduced to approximately $0.0001 per transaction.

Unlike Ethereum’s burning mechanism associated with EIP-4844, BSC’s approach to blobs does not involve burning the base fee within blobs. This distinction ensures that the pricing mechanism aligns specifically with BNB Chain’s operational framework and network dynamics.

Moreover, the implementation of BEP-336 is set to impact BNB Greenfield, BNB Chain’s decentralized storage solution. Greenfield will leverage "BlobHub," a newly introduced data archive layer that enhances decentralized storage and data management for decentralized applications (DApps) and layer-2 networks.

In tandem with these technical advancements, BNB, the native cryptocurrency of the BNB Chain, has recently achieved a new all-time high. On June 6, BNB surged to $717.48 before experiencing a correction to $579 on June 18. As of the latest update, BNB is trading around $605, highlighting robust investor interest and market momentum surrounding the network’s developments.
