AI has rapidly progressed in recent months. OpenAI, for instance, recently unveiled an enhanced ChatGPT model with a better voice assistant capable of reading body motions, such as breathing patterns.

As expected, cryptocurrencies tied to this advancing technology have seen increased interest, pushing the total market capitalization of this niche beyond $30 billion. We queried ChatGPT on which AI cryptocurrencies might perform best this year.

ChatGPT prefaced its prediction with a disclaimer, highlighting that the top performer would depend on several key factors, including market potential, technological innovation, and recent price trends.

Bittensor (TAO) was identified as a strong contender, thanks to its rising market cap and "strong growth potential." Currently trading at around $380 (according to CoinGecko), TAO has surged 725% since May 2023, although it has pulled back from its all-time high of over $720 in March.

Fetch.ai (FET) followed as the next significant AI cryptocurrency, with a market cap of approximately $5.7 billion. ChatGPT cited its advanced technology and broad applicability in areas like supply chain optimization and smart cities as key strengths.

Render (RNDR), SingularityNET (AGIX), and Ocean Protocol (OCEAN) completed the top 5. Despite recognizing their potential for price growth this year, ChatGPT advised investors to thoroughly research each asset's use cases and technological advancements before investing.

Current Market Leader Consideration

Interestingly, ChatGPT's list did not include Internet Computer (ICP), currently the largest AI cryptocurrency by market cap (according to CoinGecko). When asked specifically about ICP, the chatbot indicated that ICP could maintain its leading position if it successfully incorporates AI functionalities, making it more appealing to developers and businesses.

Additionally, ChatGPT noted that the level of investment in its ecosystem and potential regulatory changes could greatly influence ICP's performance.

ICP is currently trading around $12.75, marking a 190% increase over six months. Its market cap is near $6 billion, positioning it as the 22nd largest cryptocurrency.
