In a surprising development causing ripples in the tech and crypto communities, business tycoon and CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk, has issued a stern warning to tech giant Apple, threatening to bar Tesla from using Apple devices if the company integrates OpenAI into its operating system.

Musk, known for his outspoken concerns about the dangers of Artificial Intelligence (AI), made this statement amid growing speculation that Apple might incorporate OpenAI's capabilities into upcoming releases of its iOS and macOS operating systems.

During its annual Worldwide Developers Conference WWDC 2024 on Monday, Apple unveiled its venture into artificial intelligence, termed Apple Intelligence, comprising innovative features in generative AI. It was also announced that users can opt to utilize OpenAI's ChatGPT with Siri. This marks Siri's most significant redesign since its launch in 2011.

Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, mentioned that Siri will leverage ChatGPT's knowledge when deemed beneficial to users. However, Musk expressed disapproval of this integration, stating that his companies would prohibit the use of Apple devices if OpenAI is integrated at the OS level, further adding that visitors would be required to check their Apple devices at the door.

Musk's opposition stems from concerns about potential security breaches. His threats highlight the escalating tension between established tech firms and cryptocurrency entrepreneurs advocating for more decentralized, user-centric approaches.

Musk also criticized Apple, arguing that its inability to develop AI independently, coupled with uncertainties regarding OpenAI's ability to safeguard user security and privacy, is alarming. He believes that users' data privacy could be compromised if transmitted to OpenAI, ultimately undermining their safety.
