The lengthy legal battle between self-proclaimed Bitcoin creator Craig Wright and a Norwegian Bitcoin user, known as Hodlonaut, has finally concluded after five years. Wright recently dropped his appeal against Hodlonaut regarding defamation.

The dispute began when Hodlonaut made derogatory remarks about Wright on social media, questioning his claims of being Satoshi Nakamoto, leading Wright to file a lawsuit in 2019. A trial in Oslo in 2022 found in favor of Hodlonaut, stating that Wright had been dishonest in his attempts to prove his identity as Satoshi Nakamoto.

Hodlonaut expressed relief over Wright withdrawing his appeal in Norway, citing concerns over potential monetary damages in the UK where defamation laws favor the plaintiff. Wright's decision marks the end of a lengthy legal battle that started nearly five years ago when the lawsuit was filed.

Additionally, Craig Wright faced a setback in his claim over the Bitcoin Whitepaper ownership when the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) successfully refuted his claims in court. The ruling, which came after years of speculation about Wright's true identity as Satoshi Nakamoto, discredited his authorship of the Bitcoin Whitepaper.

Despite ending the lawsuit in Norway, Wright's defamation case against Hodlonaut in the UK remains pending, with the outcome still uncertain.
