Although representatives from both major political parties attended, the crypto industry's influence campaign has increasingly targeted the Labour Party, which leads in opinion polls.

Sunak's decision to schedule the election for July 4 confirmed the wisdom of this strategy, but also highlighted the uncertainty surrounding crypto regulation in the UK, as Labour has not held power since 2010, when Bitcoin was in its early stages.

Labour leader Keir Starmer has remained relatively silent on cryptocurrencies, leaving industry insiders guessing about his regulatory intentions should his party win.

Laura Navaratnam, UK policy lead at the Crypto Council for Innovation, suggested that even Labour may not have a clear stance yet, indicating uncertainty about the party's position on the country's crypto sector.

The upcoming elections in the UK and US, occurring just four months apart, represent a crucial moment for the crypto industry. Despite facing market downturns and increased regulatory scrutiny, the past year has seen significant progress, including the approval of Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded products in both countries.

In the US, the crypto industry is increasing campaign contributions to supportive candidates, while in the UK, efforts are focused on building relationships with Starmer and the Labour Party.

The crypto industry's priorities in the UK include expediting comprehensive regulations, reviving stablecoin legislation proposals, relaxing restrictions on marketing crypto products, and addressing challenges in accessing banking services.
