Polygon Labs' Executive Chair Sandeep Nailwal to Focus More on Zero-Knowledge Solutions as Chief Business Officer

Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal has taken on the role of chief business officer, in addition to his position as executive chairman of Polygon Labs. Nailwal, one of the original founders of the network known as MATIC in 2017, will now concentrate more on Polygon's zero-knowledge solutions, such as the Polygon CDK, an open-source toolkit for developers to create layer-2 solutions on Ethereum.

"Polygon Labs is in the process of developing transformative technology that will provide developers and enterprises with numerous opportunities to scale quickly and securely while maintaining liquidity," Nailwal stated.

Additionally, two crypto-focused companies have recently appointed new leaders following fundraising efforts.

Centrifuge, a platform for tokenized assets, has appointed Julia Merkey as chief operating officer and Sonam Joshi as head of product. Merkey was formerly the CFO at BlueYard Capital, and Joshi has held positions at UBS, Google, Amazon, and Abra. Centrifuge manages pools of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) like loans, credit, and real estate, with about $280 million in its liquidity pools.

"They join at an ideal time as Centrifuge aims to scale to meet the growing demand for tokenized real-world assets," said Centrifuge co-founder Lucas Vogelsang. The company raised $15 million in April in a funding round co-led by ParaFi Capital and Greenfield.

Movement Labs, which also raised funds in April, securing $38 million in a Series A round led by PolyChain Capital, has appointed Franck Cassez as head of research. Cassez, a former researcher at Consensys and blockchain research lead at Windranger Labs, will help bring Facebook’s Move Virtual Machine to Ethereum.

Other notable appointments include Chris Knight, who will join LMAX Group as managing director, and Ross O’Leary, who has joined Coinbase’s global communications team as an associate manager. Knight previously worked at XTX Markets and Standard Chartered Bank and will oversee LMAX's institutional crypto exchange starting this summer.
