Remember the FTX debacle? The crypto exchange that went belly-up in 2022, leaving a trail of frustrated customers and missing millions? Well, they're back with a plan – a "we're super sorry, here's your money (kind of)" plan.

Here's the gist: FTX wants to repay creditors everything they lost, plus interest – sounds good, right? Not exactly. The catch? You won't get your precious crypto back. Instead, you'll get good ol' US dollars based on the value of your account at the time of the crash – a time when the entire crypto market was in the gutter.

This is where things get messy. Imagine losing all your Bitcoin when it was at a rock bottom price, only to get a fraction of its current, much higher value back in dollars. Ouch. Creditors are understandably furious. They see the 9% interest rate as a slap in the face, especially considering Bitcoin's price has skyrocketed since the crash.

One creditor, Arush Sehgal, lost his life savings in the FTX collapse. Under the proposed plan, he'd only get back a quarter of what his account is actually worth today. "A hundred cents on the dollar doesn't mean much to me," he says, echoing the frustrations of many.

Adding fuel to the fire, over 80 creditors are challenging the way FTX is calculating account values. A lawsuit filed in January further complicates things, with creditors arguing their crypto wasn't FTX's property to sell in the first place.
