In the past three years, El Salvador's National Bitcoin Headquarters has utilized its volcano-powered geothermal system to mine close to 474 BTC, according to a recent report by Reuters. As the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021, El Salvador has generated around $30 million from mining the cryptocurrency using energy from a volcano. Currently, the nation holds approximately 5,750 BTC valued at about $373 million.

Under the leadership of pro-crypto President Nayib Bukele, who is in his second term, El Salvador installed 300 processors fueled by the Tecapa volcano to mine BTC. The report reveals that out of the 102 megawatts produced by the power plant, 1.5 megawatts are dedicated to mining the leading cryptocurrency.

In December, El Salvador's "Volcano Bonds," the world's first Bitcoin bonds, were given the green light by regulators. Originally planned for early 2022, the launch of these bonds was postponed due to a decline in BTC prices. Additionally, President Bukele affirmed in December that El Salvador has no plans to sell its BTC reserves, despite the rising value of the cryptocurrency at the time.

As of now, Bitcoin is trading at $64,929, marking a 5.74% increase over the last 24 hours.
