Flipkart, an Indian e-commerce platform, plans to launch an exclusive blockchain using the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK) to enhance its FireDrops Web3 loyalty program.

Powering FireDrops 2.0, Hang's loyalty platform enables Flipkart users to earn rewards, revolutionizing user engagement. Additionally, FireDrops will introduce gamification to foster customer loyalty, aiming to add a loyalty layer in the future for customers with strong brand relationships to earn greater incentives. This includes incentives for purchasing popular products at discounted rates, offering a unique way to engage with preferred brands.

Since its launch in September, FireDrops has connected with 3.3 million wallets, with one-third owned by women. Flipkart is collaborating with Polygon CDK to develop an Ethereum-based zero-knowledge (ZK) layer 2 network focused on service and overall expansion.

Polygon CDK simplifies the process of creating and deploying ZK L2s on Ethereum for developers. Projects like OKX, Astar, Gnosis Pay, Palm, and IDEX are utilizing this technology. In the future, CDK-based chains may offer interoperability and be integrated into a broader network of ZK-enhanced L2s within the Polygon CDK ecosystem.

This blockchain initiative provides Flipkart with tailored opportunities, including seamless onboarding experiences, an exclusive blockspace, and cost-effective transaction fees. Scaling to Polygon will offer increased privacy for transaction data and the potential to operate the chain without a token. Additionally, there may be integration with central bank digital currencies and connectivity with liquidity within the Polygon and Ethereum ecosystems.

Flipkart's endeavor may inspire leading fintech companies in India to explore Web3, while consumer-centric firms may consider developing their own application chains.
