According to Gurbacs, there is no "better alternative" to the U.S. dollar for countries experiencing currency devaluation. His message to these nations echoes the pioneering move by El Salvador, which adopted Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021, a decision that garnered global attention.

Following El Salvador's lead, Argentina is now exploring the possibility of Bitcoin adoption and regulation. The National Securities Commission of Argentina recently engaged in discussions with El Salvador's National Commission of Digital Assets to understand the implications of Bitcoin adoption and learn from El Salvador's experience.

Gurbacs, a long-time advocate for Bitcoin, stressed the importance of nation states diversifying their reserves by incorporating Bitcoin onto their balance sheets. He asserted that in today's landscape, it is "irresponsible" for countries not to hold Bitcoin as part of their reserves.

However, amidst Gurbacs' call for Bitcoin adoption, the cryptocurrency market experienced a sudden downturn, triggered by Mt. Gox's transfer of significant amounts of Bitcoin to creditors. Whale Alert reported several large transactions amounting to billions of dollars, causing Bitcoin's price to drop by almost 4%.
