OrphansOfUganda, situated in Bugiri, a remote area of Uganda, provides refuge for 77 orphans despite challenging conditions in the location—no electricity, poor internet connectivity, and underfunded schools. Nevertheless, these children persevere, clutching onto hope for a better future

Everything changed when OrphansOfUganda embraced Bitcoin and got donations from several organisations and individuals including Bitcoin Kampala, Bitcoin Kids, and Praia Bitcoin Brazil. These contributions not only provided essential resources but ushered them into happier and transformed days.

Spearheaded by Bitcoin Kampala, a complete renovation was done on the home.

The children who previously passed the nights on the hard bare floors, could now sleep on good mattresses with mosquito nets as protection from the infamous mosquito bites.

Land, seeds, and farming equipment were purchased for them to cultivate and produce their own food items. This will increase food supplies, alleviate hunger, and enable caregivers to allocate funds previously reserved for feeding to other essential areas. Additionally, they were provided with a consistent supply of different fruit varieties.

Provision of an interest-free loan with a three-year repayment plan to cover their education, including uniforms and books purchase. Unfortunately, the school faced the risk of closure due to unqualified teachers, absence of quality instructional materials, and lack of classrooms.

However, plans are being made to salvage the situation and provide the necessary requirements. Education is the gateway out of poverty and deprivation, the special recipe that adds savory flavor to life. The "hope for 77 Children, 77 future households, and 77 future parents".
