Pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton has criticized the U.S. Government and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for their inconsistent approach to regulating the crypto industry, particularly in relation to Coinbase.

Deaton pointed out the contradiction between the SEC claiming Coinbase's operations are illegal, while the U.S. Government uses that same exchange to sell its Bitcoin holdings. The government recently sold $241 million worth of Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime.

The lawyer accused SEC Chair Gary Gensler and Senator Elizabeth Warren of contributing to an anti-crypto stance. He suggested Warren is more focused on political maneuvering than addressing economic issues in her home state of Massachusetts, where the cost of living is 48% higher than the national average.

Deaton's comments highlight the perceived disconnect between regulators' official positions and their practical dealings with crypto companies. It raises questions about the consistency and fairness of the regulatory framework in the U.S.
