The Lemonade Foundation, the non-profit branch of Lemonade, has announced support for vulnerable farmers severely impacted by climate change. Known for leveraging technology for social and environmental benefits, the foundation has launched the Lemonade Crypto Climate Coalition to assist these farmers.

Avalanche, recognized for its high-speed smart contracts and efficiency, partners with Lemonade to provide cost-effective, eco-friendly services. Many clients prefer deploying products on Avalanche due to its competitive edge and environmental benefits.

**New Insurance Model for Farmers**:
The Lemonade Crypto Climate Coalition introduces a new form of insurance through a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). This allows the coalition to offer parametric weather and instantaneous insurance products to farmers at cost price. Livestock keepers in emerging markets can also benefit if they adopt the new technology.

The coalition includes partners like Chainlink, Avalanche, Etherisc, DAOstack, Pula, Hannover Re, and Tomorrow.io. Initial funding comes from the Lemonade Foundation, with other partners contributing to the liquidity pool.

Farmers can use this decentralized app (dApp) to make payments via mobile devices using global stablecoins or local currency, similar to traditional banking. Africa will be the first to experience the rollout, expected to be completed within 12 months.

Daniel Schreiber, Director of the Lemonade Foundation, emphasized their goal of harnessing the communal and decentralized power of Web3. John Wu, President of Ava Labs, highlighted Avalanche's energy efficiency compared to Ethereum. Rose Goslinga, Co-Founder of Pula, noted the importance of focusing on Africa, home to around 300 million smallholder farmers, for the initial rollout.
