However, amidst these challenges, there are signs of optimism as hash prices surged to multi-year highs on the day of the halving, fueled by heightened fees attributed to Runes.

Data from Glassnode underscores this narrative, revealing that the hash price currently stands at $51,915 in USD terms and 0.84 BTC, inching towards all-time lows. Notably, May 9 witnessed a notable uptick in hash price following the largest difficulty adjustment drop since November 2022.

Glassnode's miner revenue per exahash metric serves as a vital tool for assessing daily miner earnings relative to their proportional contribution to network hash power. This metric, derived by dividing total miner income (subsidies and fees) by the current hashrate (in EH/s), offers valuable insights into daily revenue earned per 1 EH/s of hash power contributed by miners to the network.

In light of these developments, Luxor, a prominent mining pool and hashrate marketplace, has released its Q1 2024 report, offering insights into the state of Bitcoin mining. The report posits that the hash price may have bottomed out in the short term and anticipates a resurgence over the next five months. This optimistic projection hinges on the expectation of either higher transaction fees or a reduction in mining difficulty.

According to the report:

"This suggests that Luxor Hashrate Forward traders are anticipating a rise in hashprice over the next five months, driven by either an uptick in transaction fees or a decline in Bitcoin mining difficulty."

Furthermore, Luxor's hashrate forwards are trading above the current spot price through October, a phenomenon known as Contango. This indicates bullish sentiment among hashrate traders, who are factoring in expectations of increased transaction fees in the short term.

"Luxor's Hashrate Forwards are currently trading in contango through October, indicating that contract prices for these forward contracts, which essentially function as future contracts albeit trading OTC rather than on an exchange, are trading higher than the current spot price."

The report underscores that hashrate traders are optimistic about the prospects of heightened transaction fees in the near future, envisioning two potential scenarios for fee escalation. Firstly, continued momentum in the Bitcoin bull run could lead to increased adoption and network congestion. Alternatively, another surge in Inscriptions and Runes could drive up fees, presenting promising avenues for hashprice growth in the coming months.
