Matic Network was conceived by Jaynti Kanani, Sandeep Nailwal, Anurag Arjun, and Mihailo Bjelic in 2017. The project aimed to address the scalability issues of the Ethereum network, specifically focusing on improving transaction throughput and reducing latency.

The Matic Network officially launched its mainnet in June 2019. It introduced a Layer 2 scaling solution, utilizing a combination of sidechains and the Plasma framework to enable faster and cheaper transactions compared to the Ethereum mainnet.
