Bitcoin miners Sphere 3D and Gryphon Digital Mining are embroiled in a heated legal battle, slinging mud at each other's financial health.

Sphere 3D vehemently denies claims by its former partner that it's on the brink of collapse. In court documents, Sphere calls Gryphon's accusations "disingenuous at best," highlighting its own reported $45 million in assets versus $5 million in liabilities.

But is this a case of a financially sound company being unfairly targeted?

The plot thickens. Industry sources whisper that Gryphon itself might be struggling, with negative working capital and loan agreements demanding all excess income goes towards repayment. Could their attempt to freeze Sphere's $10 million settlement be a desperate grab for cash?

Sphere further accuses Gryphon of failing to file a proper claim in Core Scientific's bankruptcy, jeopardizing Sphere's ability to recoup a $35 million deposit. As a result, Sphere is countersuing for a whopping $25 million in damages.
