This DAO operates on any chain, enabling token holders to participate in governance from their preferred chain. Users can propose and delegate votes for on-chain DAO governance, with MultiGov supporting multichain DAOs across Ethereum mainnet, Solana, and EVM L2s.

Differentiation between Single-chain and Multichain

Traditionally, DAOs conducted governance exclusively on Ethereum mainnet, but rising gas costs have increased participation expenses. Additionally, DAO token holders are spread across multiple chains due to improved multichain infrastructure. To maintain accessible and decentralized governance, existing DAOs seek options for expanding governance systems.

Implementation

A DAO MultiGov utilizes a standard ERC20Votes token on the "hub" chain, along with an OpenZeppelin Governor and Flexible Voting extension. Token holders can transfer their hub governance token to spoke chains. Each spoke has its native governance token and Governor contract, tracking voting power and executing proposals on the spoke chain.

Users can vote directly on the spoke Governor, with votes aggregated and sent to the hub chain via cross-chain messages. After the voting period, the hub chain evaluates votes from spoke chains and hub users, executing proposals upon passage and sending votes for execution via cross-chain messages.

Through this implementation, contributors at ScopeLift, Tally, and Wormhole can engage with MultiGov by submitting a form.
