Babylon, a Bitcoin staking protocol, has secured a substantial $70 million in funding, spearheaded by venture firm Paradigm. This significant investment round attracted participation from prominent entities such as Bullish Capital, Polychain Capital, Hashkey Capital, Mantle, Galaxy, Hack VC, ViaBTC Capital, Amber, and HTX Ventures.

The primary goal of Babylon, fueled by this fresh capital injection, is to advance its vision of establishing a Bitcoin-secured decentralized economy. Its innovative approach allows various proof-of-stake (PoS) systems, including PoS chains, layer-2 solutions, data availability layers, and oracles, to utilize Bitcoin as a staking asset. Through Babylon's modular design and slashing functionality, PoS systems can elevate their crypto-economic security levels, surpassing what native tokens typically offer.

One of Babylon's key objectives is to unlock the immense value within the over $1 trillion Bitcoin ecosystem, consequently alleviating inflation pressure on PoS chains while enhancing financial utility for Bitcoin holders.

Earlier this year, Paradigm played a pivotal role in a substantial funding round for Farcaster, contributing to the company's valuation of approximately $1 billion. This marked yet another milestone for Paradigm, which has been actively involved in the cryptocurrency sector's resurgence.

With plans to raise new funds for crypto investments, Paradigm aims to secure up to $850 million, reflecting the growing momentum in the digital asset industry. This latest fundraising endeavor would be Paradigm's largest since 2021, underscoring its commitment to supporting groundbreaking projects within the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
