Gavin Wood, the founder of Polkadot, unveiled the Gray Paper at the Token2049 crypto conference in Dubai, introducing the upcoming Join-Accumulate Machine (JAM) upgrade for the network.

The Web3 Foundation, which oversees Polkadot, also announced a 10 Million DOT prize pool to encourage diverse development of the JAM protocol. Essentially, JAM aims to provide secure and scalable smart contract capabilities by blending elements from Ethereum with Polkadot's framework. It allows for the execution of smart contract logic on cores, enabling existing Substrate-based parachains to run as services.

This upgrade aims to transform Polkadot into a versatile multi-core world computer, potentially boosting its utility and value. However, the implementation of the JAM upgrade hinges on approval from Polkadot's decentralized governance system.
