Renowned financier and long-term crypto enthusiast Anthony Scaramucci has made a bold prediction on social media, stating that a Solana (SOL) exchange-traded fund (ETF) is on the horizon. Scaramucci, co-founder of SkyBridge Capital, believes that SOL, currently the fifth-largest cryptocurrency with a market capitalization of $74 billion, is poised to be the next cryptocurrency to get an ETF.

This prediction comes on the heels of a similar forecast made by Brian Kelly, CEO of BKCM LLC and a prominent CNBC contributor, who also expects a SOL ETF launch in the near future. Kelly has identified Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana as the "big three" cryptocurrencies of this cycle.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has already approved eleven Bitcoin spot ETFs and, in a surprise move, greenlit spot Ethereum ETFs yesterday, May 23. This development allows retail and institutional investors to gain exposure to Ethereum without directly owning it, instead buying ETF shares based on the cryptocurrency.

However, there is a caveat. SOL is among the altcoins labeled as unregistered securities by the SEC, which has only acknowledged Bitcoin and Ethereum as commodities. Ethereum's status is currently uncertain, and the SEC has sued Coinbase and Kraken for offering staking services involving SOL and ETH, among other coins. Despite this, the approval of spot ETFs has been seen as a positive sign for the cryptocurrency market. James Seyffart, a Bloomberg crypto and ETF analyst, has expressed skepticism about demand for altcoin ETFs, specifically mentioning Litecoin and Dogecoin.

Scaramucci's prediction has sparked excitement in the cryptocurrency community, with many eagerly awaiting the launch of a SOL ETF.
