Sophon, a blockchain platform utilizing zkSync's hyperchain technology for entertainment purposes, has successfully raised $60 million in funding. This amount is in addition to the $10 million previously raised in a round led by prominent crypto firms such as OKX Ventures, Huobi Ventures, Spartan, and SevenX.

The network, co-founded by Sebastien and Pentoshi, is designed for high throughput applications like artificial intelligence and gaming. It is set to launch in the third quarter of 2024, along with the zkSync Hyperchain toolkit.

Node holders who participate in the Sophon sequencer will play a key role in the network's decentralization. They will be rewarded with the platform's native token, SOPH, once zkSync implements proof-of-authority for hyperchains.

The Sophon team emphasized their dedication to creating an engaging and secure platform using ZK technology for various applications. They also announced plans for several projects to be launched on the network.

Upon its launch, SOPH tokens will be distributed through a unique airdrop mechanism. Users will need to stake crypto assets such as BEAM and ZENT to receive SOPH allocations.

Sebastien expressed confidence in the choice of the ZK Stack for building Sophon, highlighting the forward-looking approach taken by the team. He emphasized the importance of building for the future and working closely with the Matter Labs team to ensure the platform's success.
