Three months ago, a fundraiser led by the Solana-based meme coin Dogwifhat successfully raised a significant $700,000, yet plans to display the token’s mascot on the Las Vegas Sphere have yet to materialize. As time passes, donors are becoming increasingly impatient, with some now requesting refunds.

According to Mihir, one of the organizers behind the Dogwifhat fundraiser, progress toward the plan is underway, albeit slowly. He urges patient supporters to understand that the organizers are all volunteers dedicating their time to the meme project. The idea was conceived during a period of notable success for the Dogwifhat token earlier this year, aiming to use the raised funds for an ambitious marketing stunt involving the coin’s mascot on the Las Vegas Sphere.

Thanks to enthusiastic backers, the fundraiser quickly surpassed its initial goal of $650,000, eventually reaching close to $700,000. However, most of this amount remains untouched, except for $11,906 in USDC stablecoins that were transferred out of the wallet, causing concern among supporters. Mihir also mentioned ongoing discussions with the Sphere regarding costs and highlighted the complexities involved in coordinating such a large-scale endeavor.

Crypto influencer Ansem, who played a pivotal role in promoting the project, has seemingly disappeared, fueling speculation that the marketing campaign may have faltered. Nevertheless, Mihir assures that if the campaign were to be canceled, donors would be promptly notified and their funds returned. Currently, representatives from the Sphere and the influencer have declined to comment, heightening suspense surrounding the situation.
