Tether's USDT stablecoin finds a new home on the TON blockchain, marking a significant step in the convergence of Tether and Telegram's Web3 ecosystem. The stablecoin operator announced the launch of USDT and XAUT stablecoins on the TON blockchain during the Token2049 event in Dubai, coinciding with keynotes from Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino and Telegram founder Pavel Durov.

In addition to the launch, Tether unveiled a restructuring plan and introduced four new business divisions. Ardoino emphasized the alignment of vision between TON and Tether towards an open and decentralized financial landscape.

With this move, Tether extends its presence across 15 blockchains, including Tron and Ethereum. The integration is significant for the TON network, which aims to revolutionize peer-to-peer payments for Telegram's vast user base, estimated at over 900 million globally.

One notable aspect of the USDT launch on TON is the network's capability to facilitate seamless transfers between fiat and crypto, positioning itself as a competitor to traditional finance in efficiency and accessibility.

While USDT has been available on Wallet since 2023, with the Tron blockchain being the default option, TON-based USDT now offers users an alternative. This development follows Tether's recent introduction of a recovery tool for migrating USDT between different blockchains, reflecting the stablecoin's continued growth and adaptability within the crypto landscape.
