Interestingly, this price surge within the Blast ecosystem contrasts with the lackluster performance of major cryptocurrencies such as Ether or Bitcoin over the same period.

According to data from DeFiLlama, the total value locked (TVL) across the Blast platform has only seen a modest 1.7% increase in the past week despite the widespread token price increases within its ecosystem. This suggests that while new features may have temporarily impacted adoption rates, they have not significantly affected overall usage levels within this specific crypto-ecosystem.

The Jackpot feature enables users to place their Blast tokens and NFTs into a pool, offering them opportunities to win various amounts of Blast Gold. Users can farm these points within the system by either actively farming with Blast gold or holding onto them until an airdrop is released. Both point holders and gold holders will receive an equal share of the airdrop.

This marks another step towards experimenting with different methods of distributing tokens or points among communities, a practice that has recently faced scrutiny due to backlash against centralized distribution systems employed by projects like EigenLayer, Kamino Finance, Friend.Tech, and others. These projects aim to attract long-term users through incentive design while also striving to comply with current and future regulatory constraints.

Blast went live on Mainnet in February of this year with the backing of Paradigm Ventures. However, controversy arose in November 2023 when it introduced its one-way deposit contract. Despite this, TVL has continued to expand and is now valued at $1.5 billion, making Blast the fourth-largest L2 solution according to L2Beat.

To participate in the Jackpot, users deposit assets into a non-custodial deck containing a maximum of eight distinct tokens or NFTs. Each block concludes with a small chance of winning the jackpot, which is randomly determined using a Blast asset. The "gold" is then distributed as a percentage throughout the deck.

The PacMoon and Fantasy Top communities have been rewarded for the two occasions since Friday that users have won the windfall. Currently, Blast Gold is valued at approximately 37,000 Blast points, although this value is speculative and subject to change based on the availability of points and "gold."
