The Cronos zkEVM Testnet network has been upgraded to Tethys, paving the way for the mainnet launch of Cronos zkEVM.

Cronos zkEVM is a zero-knowledge (ZK) Layer 2 blockchain network built on Ethereum. The project centers on ZK Chain, utilizing ZK Stack, and is supported by a partnership involving Cronos Labs, Matter Labs, Crypto.com, VVS Finance, Fulcrum Finance, and Veno Finance.

A key distinction of Cronos zkEVM is its existing user community, shared liquidity, yield-generating assets, and account withdrawals.

The cronos.org website has undergone significant updates to clarify how Cronos integrates clear blockchain networks like Cronos PoS for payments and NFTs, Cronos eVM—a leading Ethereum-compatible blockchain based on Cosmos SDK—and Cronos zkEVM, the latest Ethereum-based Layer 2 network.

Cronos zkEVM’s Tethys scaling concept is inspired by zkSync’s v24, setting the stage for advancements in zkSync.

Tethys introduces features such as a shared bridge, lower transaction fees, gas token implementation, VM 1.5.0 support for developers, and additional scaling capabilities.

Future enhancements will include an optimized gas fee adjuster, CRO-less L1 and L2 bridging, and more secure permission mechanisms.

The company plans to launch several quests to engage users and gather feedback.

The Cronos zkEVM alpha mainnet will be publicly available soon.
