Ledger and MetaMask have recently announced a collaboration. Revealed on X/Twitter, this partnership involves the Ledger Nano X supporting the MetaMask mobile app.

Now, users have the option to import their Ledger accounts into MetaMask, opening up opportunities to explore the cryptocurrency space. In addition to the announcement tweet and a brief video, Ledger has also published an official post to guide users on utilizing the integration.

The step-by-step guide outlines how users can pair the MetaMask mobile app with the Ledger Nano X:

1. Launch the MetaMask mobile app

2. Navigate to the Accounts section

3. Click on Add Account or Hardware Wallet

4. Select Add Hardware Wallet

Previously, users could only access the MetaMask browser extension for desktops with the Ledger wallet. However, the latest integration enables users to connect the Ledger Nano X to MetaMask via Bluetooth and import their Ledger Live accounts.

This collaboration ensures that the Ledger hardware wallet keeps users' private keys offline and secure. Additionally, transaction approvals must go through the Ledger, adding an extra layer of security.

Given that both Ledger and MetaMask are among the top cryptocurrency wallets in the market, their partnership is anticipated to be successful. Carl Anderson, Ledger’s VP of Engineering, shares this sentiment, emphasizing that both platforms prioritize self-custody. Thus, partnering to deliver a combination of top-tier security and a seamless experience to Web3 users is a natural progression.

With Ledger Live boasting over 1.5 million active users, it empowers customers to engage in various activities like swapping, staking, lending, buying, and selling digital assets. On the other hand, MetaMask serves as the conduit between decentralized applications (dApps) and traditional web browsers operating on the Ethereum network.
