A recent survey conducted by the Digital Currency Group in collaboration with the Harris Group sheds light on the sentiments of swing state voters in the United States regarding the financial system and cryptocurrency. The study, which polled 1,201 individuals across six swing states, reveals a nuanced perspective on the state of the financial system and the role of cryptocurrency in addressing its perceived shortcomings.

While an overwhelming majority of respondents, amounting to 70%, expressed agreement that the current financial system is outdated and in need of a comprehensive overhaul, skepticism looms regarding the efficacy of cryptocurrency as a viable solution. Despite widespread acknowledgment of the system's flaws, only a third of respondents see cryptocurrency as a potential remedy to these issues.

Furthermore, the survey indicates a prevailing sentiment among participants that the current financial system disproportionately benefits elites at the expense of ordinary individuals, with approximately four out of five respondents sharing this view. However, nearly 75% of those surveyed are unconvinced that cryptocurrency offers a more equitable alternative.

Although a significant portion of swing voters recognize the potential of cryptocurrency to revolutionize financial security and prosperity, with 41% viewing it as a novel pathway toward these goals and 35% envisioning it as the future of transacting, there remains a notable divergence in opinions between current crypto owners and non-owners.

Interestingly, over 90% of respondents who currently own or have previously owned cryptocurrency express intentions to either increase their holdings or maintain their portfolios in the coming months. Conversely, only a mere 7% of non-crypto owners plan to venture into the asset class within the same timeframe.

Moreover, the survey underscores the positive impact of cryptocurrency on the financial well-being of participants who have engaged with the asset, with approximately 76% attesting to its favorable influence.

The study, which targeted swing voters from Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Montana, Pennsylvania, and Arizona, was conducted through a 10-minute online survey administered between April 4 and 16, 2024. Participants were required to be United States residents, aged 18 or older, and registered voters.

In addition to insights on financial systems and cryptocurrency, the survey also reveals swing voters' apprehension toward political candidates who exhibit a lack of understanding or interfere with cryptocurrency developments, underscoring the growing importance of crypto literacy and policy comprehension among political figures.
