Last month, I published an article about Wicrypt, a Nigeria-based WiFi-sharing platform built on blockchain technology. In that article, I summarized what Wicrypt is, the problems it solves, how it works, and its use cases.

Just recently, Wicrypt announced its collaboration with Onega Ventures as an official partner to be the sole distributor of Wicrypt devices in China, marking its entry into the Asian market. Recall from the referenced article that Onega Ventures was one of the investors responsible for Wicrypt's $1.5 million funding back in 2021.

However, what this means is that through this partnership, residents in China can now buy, repair, and manage their Wicrypt devices, as was announced in a tweet on the official X page on the 15th of November.

This company was built from scratch in Enugu, a state in Nigeria, Africa, and it is a thing of joy to see it go global. A peek at the comment section would see Nigerians rejoice at the news with the tagline “From Enugu to the world.”

Since its emergence in the China market just a few days ago, Wicrypt has been gaining much-needed attention. This milestone isn’t only a win for the company but for the country at large. It lays the foundation for Nigerian tech to excel on the global stage, one country at a time.

In an open letter to the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy for the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the company tweeted the news as it reassured the public of Wicrypt’s ambitions and its commitment to encouraging locally made tech products to go global.
