The Worldcoin Foundation allocated a $70,000 grant to Wormhole to support WorldID verification on the Solana blockchain.

In a statement released on June 27, Worldcoin highlighted that integrating IDs will provide a crucial tool for verifying human identity within the Solana ecosystem. The grant awards Wormhole 25,000 WLD.

Wormhole elaborated that the grant facilitates seamless verification of user IDs previously authenticated on the Ethereum blockchain by employing Wormhole Queries in an Ethereum-Solana state bridge service. This service will propagate World ID state roots across chains, monitoring the World ID contract and securely transferring updates to Solana. A smart contract on Solana will store World ID state roots and validate inclusion proofs.

Benefits of the integration include enabling new use cases, showcasing Wormhole’s multichain infrastructure versatility, and ensuring developer-friendly verification methods that align with future updates. The initiative also aims to bolster security and decentralization while preserving user privacy in ID verification processes. Moreover, it enhances cross-chain interoperability, enabling decentralized apps to interact with Ethereum's identity verification systems.

Additionally, the effort supports Worldcoin’s mission to expand financial inclusion by facilitating universal access to the digital economy through robust ID services.

Worldcoin Foundation has also announced 16 grants totaling 289,000 WLD, benefiting projects like Axiom, Proof of Passport, Farcaster Humaniser, Alphaday, Only Dust, Encode Club, zkSnap, TACEO, Cometh, Herodotus, World Poll, Agora, Fuzzing Labs, Satori, and BBB & Company. These initiatives aim to strengthen various aspects of the Worldcoin ecosystem, including research, development, and community outreach.
