Nevertheless, 21Shares is resolute in its conviction that this is merely a transient phase. Despite the tepid response from institutional investors, the company maintains faith in the resilience of its products amidst the evolving market dynamics and regulatory framework.

The emergence of the digital asset market as a nascent and evolving entity underscores the fluctuating nature of trading volumes, particularly in comparison to more established markets like equities and bonds. This disparity is further pronounced in niche segments such as crypto Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), which track the performance of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).

Last month, 21Shares debuted four crypto ETNs on the London Stock Exchange: the 21Shares Bitcoin ETN, 21Shares Ethereum Staking ETN, 21Shares Bitcoin Core ETN, and 21Shares Ethereum Core ETN. These offerings were made available exclusively to professional investors in compliance with the regulatory framework set forth by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

However, the restricted accessibility of these products has hindered widespread investor engagement, especially when juxtaposed with their counterparts in the United States. Despite these challenges, 21Shares maintains that the subdued trading volumes align with its projections and are not indicative of fundamental issues.

In response to assertions by industry peers attributing the low trading volumes to a lack of institutional interest, 21Shares posits alternative explanations. The company contends that market conditions, including periods of uncertainty and regulatory changes, exert a significant influence on trading activity. Moreover, the cross-listing of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETNs, coupled with the prevailing preference among professional investors for markets with higher liquidity, further contributes to the subdued volumes on the London Stock Exchange.

While some industry insiders, such as Laurent Kssis of Issuance Swiss AG, persist in attributing the low trading volumes to institutional apathy, others like Hector McNeil highlight external factors such as the timing of the exchange's entry into the market.

Despite these divergent perspectives, 21Shares remains steadfast in its optimism, emphasizing that the current challenges are temporary in nature.
