Six companies updated their Ethereum spot ETF S-1 registration statements on May 31, notably with 21Shares renaming its "Ark 21Shares Ethereum ETF" to the "21Shares Core Ethereum ETF" and removing all references to Ark Invest as the fund’s subadvisor. Ark Invest has not provided any comment on this change.

Other updates include amendments from Bitwise, Fidelity, Invesco Galaxy, VanEck, and Franklin Templeton. Franklin Templeton's amendment introduces a 0.19% sponsor fee, marking it as the first issuer to specify a percentage-based fee. Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted a lack of a "fee war" among applicants compared to the competitive fee reductions seen in spot Bitcoin ETFs prior to their launch.

The amended filings confirm that companies associated with each fund will refrain from staking activities. They initially restrict in-kind creations and redemptions but acknowledge the potential for such transactions pending regulatory approval in the future.

Recent filings also detail initial seed sale proceeds and introduce ticker symbols for the first time. Following the SEC's approval of 19-b4 filings on May 23, the launch of spot Ethereum ETFs is anticipated by the end of June, with BlackRock and Grayscale among the issuers preparing their filings ahead of the SEC's month-end deadline.

With all prospective spot ETH ETF issuers now meeting the regulatory requirements, the SEC will review and potentially request further amendments before approving the funds for launch. Balchunas expects this process to conclude within a few weeks, aiming for a launch no later than July 4.
