The original transaction in which the Ethereum Foundation sent 44,167 ETH, then worth $40,930, to "0x8e23," occurred nine years ago on November 20, 2015. Today, this amount of Ethereum is valued at $154.58 million.

This large movement of funds is not unprecedented for entities associated with Ethereum, although it stands out due to its size. Previous recent transactions from the Foundation have typically not exceeded 100 ETH, or about $350,000.
