Examining EigenLayer's daily flows since the EIGEN airdrop sheds light on the platform's trajectory following the distribution event. Initially, the reaction to the airdrop triggered a surge in queued withdrawers on the platform. Despite some initial concerns regarding VPN restrictions and token transferability limitations, the Eigen Foundation took steps to expand airdrop allocations and provide clarity on token unlocks, alleviating some apprehensions.

The surge in queued withdrawers, observed since April 29 when the tokenomics for EIGEN were announced, culminated in a notable increase in actual withdrawals from EigenLayer starting on May 6, following the end of the 7-day escrow period. While some users may have exited the platform post-airdrop, the influx of depositors to EigenLayer after the launch of its mainnet and the resumption of deposits for liquid staking tokens suggests that the withdrawal uptick did not significantly disrupt the restaking platform.

Despite the uptick in withdrawals, EigenLayer has managed the capital flight relatively well. Daily net flows exceeding $45 million on four occasions since May 6 indicate substantial fund outflows, yet this amount is dwarfed by EigenLayer's substantial total value locked (TVL) of almost $15 billion. Consequently, the platform's security network has remained robust, with the outflows having minimal impact on overall stability.

Although net negative days have become more frequent post-EIGEN launch, EigenLayer continues to experience net positive days, such as generating $57 million on May 15. Furthermore, while the initial surge in withdrawers appears to be tapering off, daily withdrawal levels remain higher compared to pre-token revelation levels.

With the launch of its mainnet, EigenLayer is poised to deliver on its promise of additional yield to depositors. As the restaking platform boasting the largest security network, EigenLayer stands as an attractive option for new services seeking to leverage existing liquidity. This positioning augurs well for EigenLayer's ability to attract new services, thereby enhancing additional rewards for depositors and encouraging continued participation in the protocol.
