African Development Bank Group and Intel, have recently sealed a partnership deal to train 3 million Africans and 30,000 government officials in AI skills. This shared commitment was formalized in the recent AFDB annual meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.

The goal of this partnership is to:

equip african with the 4ith industrial revolution skills
Position Africans as contributors in emerging technologies
Develop African tech skills in large scale and at necessary speed
Shape African digital future and empower the youths

Moreover, there are key areas that the partnership wishes to address using Artificial Intelligence. That includes Education, Health and Agriculture. Essentially, these areas of impact are expected to make artificial intelligence accessible to Africans. It also intends to enhance ethnic, geographical and gender inclusion in the African digital economy.

Picturing the impacts of AI in Education, Health and Agriculture

Education

Artificial intelligence has become instrumental in learning and research using tools like ChatGPT and related learning aids. But this partnership is likely to bring Artificial intelligence into the major education sector in Africa. Eyes may be rolling already, seeking answers to how AI can impact the education sector.

Here are some of the instances of area where AI can influence education:

It can help to personalize learning for children, adults and special needs persons
It can assist with curriculum planning
It can help teachers with learning analytics, assessments and grading
It also provides students with easy learning tools both onsite and distance learning.

Agriculture

Agriculture is a central sector in every economy. For a continent like Africa that produces organic food, AI can be instrumental in adjusting our farming practices with the increasing population.
