For the RetroPGF Round 3, a total of 501 recipients were selected. Strikingly, among the recipients were Web3Bridge and AyaHQ both from Africa, receiving 28,219.99 OP and 28,291.29 OP, respectively.

The Retroactive Public Goods Funding (RetroPGF) is a funding round championed by Optimism to support builders, creators, writers, and educators who work tirelessly to improve and impact the Optimism blockchain. So it is admirable to see that Africa’s contributions to Web3 growth are noticed and supported.

AyaHQ and Web3brige are both communities that train and equip enthusiasts with web3 skills.

AyaHQ also operates a web3 marketplace that connects talents to jobs, and It’s a blissful year for them already as they also recently got enrolled into the esteemed Techstars program.

On the other hand, Web3bridge during their 4th anniversary in October last year, shared that they have introduced 4,000+ people to web3 across 9 cohorts, and participated in over 30 hackathons; with past alumni generating $1,695,000 in salaries, cumulatively.

This is the 3rd funding round, as the1st and 2nd rounds were held in 2021 and early 2023 respectively. The entire RetroPGF process requires interested projects to send in their applications, and have their work reviewed and voted for by the Optimism badgeholders. Thereafter, impactful projects stand a chance of being selected.
