Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., sometimes known as RFK Jr., is a presidential contender from the United States who wants to place the whole US budget on a blockchain.

He put forth the concept on April 21 during a rally in Michigan, claiming that it would enable every American to view "every budget item anytime they want, 24 hours a day."

"Our budget will be seen by 300 million people, and if someone is paying $16,000 for a toilet seat, everyone will be aware of it."

Kennedy's proposal would increase accountability and transparency by letting citizens know how their taxes are being used.

Many cryptocurrency supporters praised the blockchain plan on social media, saying it would be revolutionary and eradicate corruption.

A user stated that open and honest accounting might be the best use case for blockchain tech besides the supply chain.

“Checks and balances in our government doesn’t work if the branches are in on the corruption together (the president and Congress mainly). It’s time the people hold them accountable.”

Some, however, have criticized the plan, claiming RFK Jr. was advocating for a central bank digital currency (CBDC) via his blockchain plan.

However, in the past, Kennedy has vowed to end U.S. efforts to move toward a CBDC, claiming it infringes on users’ privacy.

RFK Jr. is running as an independent candidate in the upcoming U.S. presidential election after dropping the Democratic bid in October last year.

He is a big-time Bitcoin and blockchain advocate and among the few presidential candidates over the years to endorse Bitcoin and decentralized technology.

He is also the first presidential candidate to accept Bitcoin BTC $66,020

for campaign donations. The U.S. presidential candidate also revealed his plans to back the U.S. dollar with Bitcoin if elected president.

A number of politicians who have earned widespread support in recent years have been vocal opponents of centralised government systems, particularly financial ones.

Recently, a campaign against central banks helped Javier Milei, Argentina's pro-Bitcoin presidential candidate, win elections.
