Bitcoin layer-2 developer Alex Labs has successfully recovered over $3.9 million worth of cryptocurrencies following an exploit on its BNB Smart Chain bridge. The attack targeted the bridge's wallets, which used compromised keys from an earlier phishing incident.

The team managed to freeze $3.7 million held across various centralized exchanges (CEXs), with additional funds still under the attacker's control. Alex Labs has already recovered 17 tokens, including aBTC, sUSDT, and Alexcoin. However, $9.6 million remains directly controlled by the attacker in their wallets.

In response, Alex Labs is offering a 10% reward for the successful hacking task and plans to file a police report to aid in recovering the funds from the hacker. Additionally, they propose a treasury reserve grant program using the insurance company fund to support those affected by the incident.

Due to the significant amount of STX tokens involved in the exploit, Alex Labs is considering proposing a network upgrade to freeze remaining funds and mint new tokens for victims. This move aims to mitigate the impact on affected users and ensure the recovery of as many funds as possible.
