Spice Coin ($SPC) is a decentralized meme token that was designed to provide utility in the agricultural community. Its utility is dedicated to helping make transactions for farmers and buyers more smooth and efficient.

Farming is a very crucial income provider for diverse families across Africa and the world at large. However, most of these farmers are constantly troubled by humanitarian crises, unavoidable natural disasters, lack of funding, etc.

They also lack access to the necessary tools and infrastructure that ought to help them improve yields and productivity. Also, when it comes to funding, they are usually faced with third parties who bring outrageous fees and interest rates.

Spice Coin aims to address these issues by utilizing blockchain technology to provide a more secure way to raise funds as well as aid transactions in carrying out transactions for farmers.

It also aims to go down the humanitarian route by providing funding for charity organizations that support farmers and farming communities.

Below is an excerpt of the interview I did with the CEO of this innovative project. She shares her experience in the blockchain space as well as her thoughts on what it means to launch a cryptocurrency project. Take a look at our conversation.

Who is Frances David? Please introduce yourself

Yes, my name is Frances David and I’m from Nigeria,

I am an avid blockchain enthusiast and a marketer.

I am also the CEO of Spice Coin.

When did you begin your Web3 journey or Enter into the Web3 space and how has it been so far?

I started my Web3 journey in the year 2021.

It’s been an amazing journey so far, I would say. It’s been fun.

I got to be tested on so many levels; my patience, greed, and emotions.

Haha!! It’s been quite a ride.

What Would you say are the Biggest Opportunities for Cryptocurrency in Africa?

There are so many opportunities people can tap into when it comes to Crypto.

As I would always say, we haven’t scratched the surface yet.

What are the Biggest Challenges for Cryptocurrency Adoption in Africa?

The only challenge I see would be that it’s not visible enough.

Much more awareness needs to be created if full adoption is to be done.

But I think it would happen.

Many people will get to adopt it and then, I can finally say “We haven’t scratched the surface yet” Haha!

How do you think we can overcome these challenges?

One way that can be done is when more projects with utility spring up.

I remember when I first came into the space, I got into projects that had vision, you know real utility.

Now, everyone just wants to launch a project, make 2x, and leave.

It’s crazy you know.

So I would say if more utility projects come into the space, there would be reason for people to stay longer.

What Inspired you to Start your Project- Spice Coin?

I birthed Spice Coin to serve as a means of exchange by which people can purchase agricultural products.

Staying in a city where farmwork is respected so much, gave me an insight as to how much stress these farmers go through just to get funding and process payments.

I wanted to change that in the little way I could and I knew that blockchain was the solution.

What is Spice Coin Contributing to the Web3 Ecosystem at Large?

In the general web3 ecosystem, Spice Coin will provide a means of exchange built on the blockchain to aid transparency and easy flow of funds for farmers.

It provides an easier method of accessing funding. This has the ripple effect of boosting the adoption of cryptocurrency especially in underserved populations.

What are Some of the Challenges you have faced in the Process of Developing your Project?

One of the challenges I faced was mainly how to convince investors to believe in the vision I had for the project.

I had a supportive team quite alright, but it was a big task to make investors see what I was seeing.

There are so many projects out there, so selling Spice Coin as a unique brand amongst the thousands of others available was difficult to scale through.

What are Some of the Lessons you have learned along the way and how were you able to overcome the challenges you faced?

Well, I wouldn’t say I have fully overcome. The project is still ongoing.

The community is still very active. But I keep showing up daily.

One thing I have learned is that a cryptocurrency project does not die unless the team/ founders decide to give up on the project.

For me and my team, we go nowhere. We are still building, come what may.

If you could turn back the hands of time and start all over, what would you do differently before launching your project or what would you like to change in any timeline of the development of your project?

There's nothing I'd want to change because our launch was planned carefully.

What Advice Would you give to other Entrepreneurs who are Interested in Starting their Cryptocurrency Project?

An advice I’d give to any entrepreneur starting a cryptocurrency project is that they should research properly and thoroughly before embarking on the journey.

Launching a project is time-consuming and very stressful.

You need to know what you’re in for before you start.

If you’re not sure of what you are doing, reach out to other founders to learn more from their experiences.

I’d also advise that you build a team that will support you to the latter.
