A long-dormant stash of 50 bitcoins, acquired by one of Bitcoin's earliest miners 14 years ago, has been recently transferred, now valued at over $3 million. This transaction is notable as it adds to the rare instances of movement among bitcoins mined during the "Satoshi era," a term referring to the period when Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, was actively engaged in online forums.

The early miner received these 50 bitcoins in the early months of Bitcoin's existence in April 2010, when the cryptocurrency was valued at just a few cents. The holdings were recently split into two wallets during the early hours in Asia, with some subsequently sent to the cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase.

These early bitcoins have seen sporadic activity since the beginning of 2023. In July, an anonymous user accessed a wallet that had been idle for 11 years and distributed $30 million worth of bitcoins. Similarly, another wallet transferred 1,005 bitcoins to a new address in August. Furthermore, in December, 1,000 bitcoins that had been dormant for 13 years were directed towards trading desks and custodial services. These increasing movements have captured the interest of Bitcoin enthusiasts and the broader crypto community due to their connection to Bitcoin's early days and the mystery surrounding its elusive creator.
