The artificial intelligence (AI) developer Anthropic has announced that its AI chatbot Claude is now available in Europe for both individual and business use. According to a blog post dated May 14, the company stated that Claude can be accessed via its web application and iOS app. Claude boasts “strong levels of comprehension and fluency” in multiple European languages, including French, German, Spanish, and Italian, making it accessible to a broad user base.

This European release follows the earlier launch of Claude 3 in the United States in March 2024. Claude 3, Anthropic's most powerful system, has the capability to analyze images. Before this announcement, Europeans could only access the chatbot by using a virtual private network (VPN). The expansion into the European market signifies a significant step for Anthropic in making its AI more widely available.

The announcement of Claude's availability in Europe comes on the heels of the release of the Claude API in Europe earlier this year.
