K33 Research analysts suggest that crypto enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the arrival of groundbreaking advancements within the realm of Social Finance (SocialFi), although the exact timing of the "SocialFi season" remains uncertain. A recent research document crafted by K33's DeFi analyst, David Zimmerman, shifts the spotlight onto emerging SocialFi applications, despite facing hurdles linked to what he terms as "distorted incentives" prevalent in the sector.

In the wake of a recent airdrop by Friend.tech, attention has now shifted towards a novel SocialFi platform named Fantasy Top, which operates on the Blast layer-2 network built on Ethereum. Fantasy Top introduces an interactive gaming element where users can trade virtual cards representing crypto-linked X accounts, engaging in tournaments to earn rewards such as ETH, Blast's GOLD token, native "fan points," and additional card packs. While Fantasy Top showcases promising opportunities, Zimmerman offers a word of caution, pointing out that the SocialFi landscape is clouded by challenges related to incentivization. Notably, influencers receive direct incentives to endorse the platform, earning a share of trading volumes, pack sales, along with Blast GOLD and "FAN points."

Despite witnessing the launch of several layer-2 networks on Ethereum, Blast has managed to sustain its relevance, primarily owing to its robust airdrop initiatives. Additionally, Zimmerman shines a light on the emergence of Sanko GameCorp, a relatively lesser-known streaming and gaming platform introducing Sanko Dream Machine and SankoTV.
