Apple has announced its personal intelligence system, Apple Intelligence, and a partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its ecosystem.

The new system combines powerful generative models with personal context, setting a new privacy standard in AI, according to the press release.

In text-based apps, Apple Intelligence can proofread and summarize text, summarize emails and message threads, and prioritize notifications.

In phone and note apps, it can record, transcribe, and summarize audio.

Apple Intelligence will also feature image generation through Image Playground, support text searches of photos, perform basic image touch-ups, and arrange photos into storylines.

Apple’s voice assistant, Siri, will gain enhanced language understanding and additional capabilities, including integration with other Apple and third-party apps.

The system will use both on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute for more demanding tasks.

**ChatGPT Integration**

Apple also announced the integration of OpenAI’s ChatGPT into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, enabling users to access its expertise without switching tools.

Siri will be able to use ChatGPT for complex queries, and users can generate content and images directly within Apple’s systemwide Writing Tools using ChatGPT.

ChatGPT will also be integrated with other apps, allowing users to generate text and image content. Users can access ChatGPT for free without an account, while subscribers can connect their paid accounts.

OpenAI president and co-founder Greg Brockman confirmed the partnership with Apple in a post on X.

Apple Intelligence and ChatGPT features are expected to be released in the coming months, with some features arriving as late as 2025.
