Venture capital funding in the crypto sector maintains its impressive streak, surpassing $1 billion for the second consecutive month. April witnessed $1.02 billion raised across 161 investment rounds, closely trailing March's $1.09 billion from 186 rounds. This marks the first time since the end of 2022 that back-to-back months have exceeded the $1 billion mark.

Notable fundraising efforts included BlackRock leading a $47 million investment in Securitize, specializing in real-world asset tokenization. Monad, a newcomer in the layer-1 blockchain arena dubbed the "Solana killer," secured an impressive $225 million in a round backed by Paradigm and Coinbase Ventures. Additionally, blockchain infrastructure startup Auradine and Cosmos-based layer-1 blockchain Berachain received $80 million and $100 million, respectively.

In 2024, blockchain infrastructure companies have attracted the most venture capital, totaling $1.7 billion, followed closely by decentralized finance protocols, which garnered $626 million. Decentralized autonomous organizations, however, received only $3 million this year.

The crypto industry has already amassed over $3.67 billion through 604 funding rounds in 2024, positioning it to surpass last year's $9.3 billion. Notably, more than $100 billion has flowed into the blockchain sector since June 2014, across over 5000 funding rounds.

In a significant development, VC firms Pantera Capital and Paradigm aim to raise $1 billion and $850 million, respectively, for new cryptocurrency funds. If successful, Pantera Capital's raise will be the largest for the cryptocurrency industry since May 2022, when Andreessen Horowitz set a record by amassing $4.5 billion.
