Aptos, the innovative layer-1 blockchain platform, has achieved an unprecedented milestone in user transactions, outpacing its competitors and setting a new industry benchmark.

The platform, developed by former Facebook employees, recently experienced a surge in transactional activity, largely attributed to the introduction of Tapos Cat, a new tap-to-earn game that has rapidly gained popularity. On May 25, Aptos recorded a staggering 115.4 million transactions in a single day, significantly surpassing Solana’s 31.7 million transactions on the same day. This achievement marks a new record in the blockchain sector, eclipsing the previous high of over 65 million transactions held by Sui Network by a wide margin of over 50 million.

According to Aptoscan, the blockchain’s user transactions per second (TPS) also reached an all-time high of 32,000 on the same day. This dramatic increase underscores the growing adoption and momentum within the Aptos ecosystem, highlighting its capability to handle substantial transactional volumes efficiently.

The catalyst for this surge, Tapos Cat, processed an impressive 10 million transactions within its first day on the mainnet. The game allows users to earn $HEART tokens by ‘tickling’ a virtual cat, facilitating multiple transactions through its engaging and interactive design. The game’s initial 72-hour gas-fee-free period further incentivized users to participate without incurring additional costs, contributing to the heightened activity on the Aptos platform.

Despite the increased transaction volume, Aptos has maintained consistent gas fees and high success rates. This stability is attributed to the platform’s Aggregator feature, which enables the simultaneous processing of multiple transactions, ensuring a smooth and efficient user experience.

However, the success of Tapos Cat has not been without skepticism. The CEO of Helius Labs has questioned the game’s long-term viability and practical utility, suggesting that its click-and-buy interactions may artificially inflate metrics rather than genuinely serving user needs. In response, supporters of Aptos argue that Tapos Cat is more than just a game; it is a critical engineering project that demonstrates the robustness and scalability of the Aptos network, paving the way for future developments.

Aptos Labs remains steadfast in its mission to make decentralized assets accessible to billions of people worldwide. On May 9, the team introduced new global advisers, including David Lawee, former vice president of corporate development at Google, to help steer its ambitious goals.

Additionally, in November 2023, Aptos Labs and Atomrigs Lab announced a partnership with South Korean telecommunications giant SK Telecom (SKT) to launch a Web3 wallet service, T wallet, further expanding their reach and capabilities in the blockchain space.
